Window
Designer is engineered for both sales and
manufacturing companies, providing facilities
for quoting and manufacturing any combination
of window or door. Window Designer fully
integrates with all available modules providing
a single entry system which allows the user
to start with a priced quotation and progress
through manufacturing, delivery and invoicing
without laboriously re-entering information
as is required with other competitive systems.
Its generic setup procedure means that it
can be used with all types of materials
including PVC-u, aluminium and timber. The
advanced design of the software makes it
beneficial for any size of company, whether
large, medium or small, and provides the
following features:-
Window Designer fully supports all types
of windows, tilt & turns, pivots, H-swings,
residential doors and patio doors.
The
simple setup facility allows multiple profile
systems to be created and maintained by
anyone.
A
customisable Style Database is included
that can hold over 32000 designs.
The
Custom Style designer can provide any style
of frame allowing the user to mix casement
vents, tilt & turns, doors, etc all
within the same frame.
Styles
can be created with up to four different
transoms and mullions all within one frame.
Dummy
sashes, transoms and mullions are all supported
Any
design of sash within sash can be created.
This enables stable doors to be manufactured
with ease.
The
Style Searcher allows the user to display
and select from the relevant designs.
Reverse
Butt Welding is supported as standard whether
externally or internally glazed.
Reverse
Butt Welding handles a mixture of open in
and open out vents without the user having
to specify complicated rules within the
setup or the day to day processing.
Doors
and side screens can be configured to automatically
use an aluminium low threshold under the
door and a PVC-u section under the side
screen.
Complex
designs permit mixed profiles to be used
within the same frame, by simply selecting
the product code and position of the section.
Raked
top windows are fully supported allowing
sashes to be placed adjacent to the slope
of the rake.
Almost
any specialised frame can be designed including
pentagonal, hexagonal, septagonal, and octagonal
shapes.
Parts
of shaped frames can be bent allowing curved
heads and circular windows to manufactured.
Sashes,
transoms and mullions can be placed anywhere
within a shaped frame.
Shaped
elements of a frame that can't be easily
described on a cutting list are provided
on a separate report which produces scaled
drawings of the items.
Flagged
designs are included within the package
allowing different height windows and doors
to be combined. An essential facility when
using the Georgian Bar and Leaded Layout
module.
Multiple
frame extenders/add-ons can be added, automatically
reducing the size of the window if required.
Glass
can be mixed within a frame by selecting
the pane with the mouse and picking from
a pop-up list.
Night
vents can be added to the glass, bead, sash,
outer frame and frame extenders/add-ons,
automatically breaking and altering the
size of the reinforcement if required.
Letter
Plates can be added to doors, automatically
breaking and altering the size of the reinforcement
if required.
Arched
inserts can be selected and added to any
aperture.
When
alterations are made to a design, an arched
insert added for example, a visual representation
is displayed and printed.
Furniture
can be overridden per sash allowing restrictor
stays and fire escape hinges to be selected
only where required.
Up
to five extra items can be added to each
sash or fixed light.
Reinforcement
options allow different predefined specifications
to be quickly selected, and a custom range
of sizes to be specified per frame.
Multiple
locations are supported for commercial contracts
so that the property and location can be
entered for each frame.
Ten
independent levels of glass selection permit
any type of double glazed unit or panel
to be specified.
Glass
sizes and options are checked for validity
and can be set up to automatically select
the next option when invalid.
Window
Designers comprehensive checking facilities
can be set up to not only tell the user
there is an error but exactly where it is.
Welding
checks can be made to stop the user trying
to manufacture a design that can't be welded.
Customisable
data entry screens allow the complexity
of data input to be defined depending on
the type of company.
Dragging
and dropping windows and doors makes job
entry faster by copying information from
one window to another.
Window
Designer cuts out a lot a mistakes when
entering a job as each piece of profile
is displayed to scale in the appropriate
colour allowing the user to immediately
identify when they have made a mistake.
Visual
welds show the user where a frame is welded.
This aids in checking and learning complicated
reverse butt welding techniques.
The
main view displays all of the frames within
a job and allows changes to be made at once
to the selected frames. i.e. all of the
woodgrain frames can be selected and instantly
changed to woodgrain on white.
Part
Hints allow the user to move the mouse over
any part of the frame and see exactly what
the part is, its size and its end preps.
The
Part Viewer allows the user to select any
part of the frame and view the technical
information and a picture of the part selected.
Wind
Loading is standard using either the location
of the frame or the required pascal rating
to check if the frame meets the appropriate
British Standard.
The
Production and Delivery Scheduler uses the
constraints of the company and the delivery
schedule of the customer to automatically
calculate the required production units
(time, number of pieces, square count, etc)
of a job and work out when production should
be started and the order delivered. When
used with the Stock Manager the appropriate
stock is checked and pre-allocated.
If
orders can't be immediately entered into
Window Designer they can be pre-booked for
production using a estimated number of production
units.
Order
stages can be defined so that a job can
be tracked around the factory
Costing
facilities are provided along with detailed
reports on individual items, jobs or multiple
jobs.
Costing
can be generated from the individual components
and labour times when manufacturing or from
cost matrices for when Window Designer is
being used for sales only.
Prices
can be calculated from a cost+ basis or
from a fixed price list giving complete
flexibility when pricing jobs.
Price
lists can be created from original costings
or selling prices with minimal effort.
Multiple
price lists can be used and assigned to
different customer types so that each quote
or job automatically uses the appropriate
prices.
Extras
processing provides support for the selling
of miscellaneous items such as lengths of
architrave and allows standard components
to be automatically selected per customer
type i.e. Fitting packs.
Glass
order processing allows glazing companies
to produce orders by selecting from ten
levels of glass options providing millions
of combinations, with automatic pricing.
An
unlimited number of quotes and jobs can
be stored and recalled at any time using
the storage facilities.
Quotes
can be partially converted to jobs with
automatic tracking, useful for part domestic
orders or commercial contracts.
Unparalleled
quote and job searching facilities drive
the batch processing and multi-job reports.
Searching
can be performed on almost any combination
of items of information contained within
a quote or job including customer name,
post code, salesman, order date, production
date, etc.
Quote
searching and reporting allows the retrieval
of information such as partially and unconverted
quotes.
A
superior Customer Database is provided,
holding information on the customers general
details such as name and address, as well
as sales representative, payment terms,
settlement discounts, etc.
The
Customer Database also contains job dependant
information such as advanced multi-level
discounting and the customers own manufacturing
specifications which cut down many of the
mistakes made by the inexperienced user.
Customers
or individual jobs can be put on hold prohibiting
the creation of new jobs and works printouts.
Sophisticated
invoicing uses the pricing and discounting
system to produce an instant editable invoice
with multi-company support.
Optional
accounting links provide invoice posting,
credit checking and work in progress monitoring
facilities ensuring prompt payment from
customers.
Optional
stock control links provide posting of material
requirements to all major stock control
systems.
An
essential part of a healthy business is
information. This information is generally
required in different formats depending
on the type and size of company which is
why Window Designer includes a custom report
designer which can be used to design any
type of report for a quote, job or multiple
jobs based on the following templates:-

All
reports provide detailed information as
standard, e.g. V-Notching positions on profile
labels.
Each
report can be automatically sent to the
appropriate printer without user intervention.
When
a report is printed the date and user is
stored to facilitate the tracking of mistakes.
The
supplier database allows purchase orders
to be created with the correct supplier
details.
The
installation and service databases provide
information on the installation of jobs
and allows scheduling of service calls to
track breakdowns and maintenance visits.
Built
in archiving facilities allow the backing
up and restoration of all data.
Window
Designer is fully multi-user whether on
a network or on a single machine by providing
user level passwords, access rights and
